The Assembly Committee met on Saturday 17 July 2010. Key points are as follows.
TURNSTILE PLAQUES - We need to confirm with the Club's Maintenance Dept whether there are any restrictions on fixing the Plaques and how many turnstiles there are. We will then invite applications and devise a simple process to enable supporters clubs to sponsor a Plaque. 40th ANNIVERSARY OF IBROX DISASTER - We acknowledged the excellent work done so far by various people and confirmed that the Club have plans in hand to mark the occasion. We will discuss the specifics of that plan at our next joint meeting with the Club. CIVIL ACTION AGAINST DUNDEE UTD - We agreed to fully support the case taken by Nithsdale Loyal RSC that arose from the abandoned fixture at Tannadice last season. We agreed to arrange a raffle to raise funds to help meet the legal costs and to encourage all fans to support this important case. MILK CUP - We agreed to hold a preliminary meeting with the organisers of this prestigious Youth Tournament in Northern Ireland to explore their concerns about Rangers participation following many years of non-participation. CLUB OWNERSHIP AND FINANCES - We discussed recent events and a meeting will be arranged with the Club to discuss the key issues. The club have been made aware of fans' concerns and the need for clarity. However, there is no doubt that the financial situation is tight and requires careful management. We agreed that the simplest way for fans to help in the short term is to buy a season ticket if they can. ASSEMBLY STRUCTURE - There was discussion in light of the forthcoming AGM due to be held on 23 October 2010 and delegates were encouraged to consult with their constituency members and consider if any proposals should be brought forward at the AGM. ASSEMBLY DINNER - The Assembly Dinner this year will incorporate the Player of the Year for 2009/10 and a fans tribute to Walter Smith and his management team. The event will be held in Glasgow on Friday 22 October 2010 - full details and ticket prices will be available shortly.
TICKET AND TRAVEL CLUB UPDATE We met with the Ticket Centre Management Team on Friday 16 July 2010 and the key points are as follows. SEASON TICKETS - Sales have been good but are below target compared to the same time last year. The related Continuous Credit Card schemes are slightly down as well. We said we would continue to encourage fans to buy season tickets but acknowledged that some just can't afford to. AWAY TICKETS - A number of SPL clubs have still to confirm the away allocation and prices for the new season so the allocation for the SPL Away Scheme and supporters clubs cannot be finalised. Hearts, Hibs, Hamilton and St Mirren are likely to handle the sale of tickets themselves but Inverness have confirmed they will pass all away tickets to Rangers. MATCH PRICES - The home SPL prices will be the same as last year although confirmation of the Celtic match prices is still awaited. Prices for the Champions League matches have not been agreed yet. TRAVEL CLUB - The procedures for sale of the away match packages for official travel with the Club's travel partners are being reviewed to try and avoid potential travellers having to wait to see if they have sufficient points history. The likelihood is that there will be a fixed period of time for priority booking based on points history and then the bookings will be opened up to everyone. Full details will be communicated when they have been agreed.
TRUE COLOURS INITIATIVE There are a few points to clarify the operation of the scheme that will provide free tickets for HM Forces. A season ticket purchased exclusively for the scheme will be assigned to the scheme for the whole season. Any type of season ticket can be purchased subject to availability. A season ticket that is only available to the scheme for selected matches will be processed via the buy back process - that will require clear and timeous notification of matches that the season ticket is available for the scheme. Where possible the actual seats made available to the HM Forces personnel will be together and not necessarily the specific season ticket seat. That seat may be sold as a match ticket and the free seat allocated elsewhere to enable free seats to be allocated together. We are looking to set up a Paypal account shortly to enable fans to make smaller contributions that will be used to purchase season tickets for the scheme
